Where are we from? Related to other Gans?
Steve Haryono, who is a descendant of the Gan family in Pekalongan, is assuming
that they are related to our Gan family from Purbalingga. Their family is
originated from the village Qishan (Kiesan), near Yongchun (Engchun), Province
Fujian.
On the grave of Oey Soei Nio (Mrs Gan Sin Sing, in Mandarin: Yan Xincheng) you see the name of the village she is from: Qishan

The next photo shows the grave of Oey Bie Nio.
It only shows the name of Gan Sin Sing. Gan Sin Hwat and other children
are not mentioned, maybe because they passed away before Oey Bie Nio was
burried. We first doubted that it deals with the grave of Oey Bie Nio, but
friends who speak Hokkian could translate the name Yan Meiniang (née
Huang = Oey) as Gan Bie Nio.
The only son mentioned is Gan Sinsing.

Please read these explanations of Steve Haryono's friend about the Chinese names in Hokkian.
It is not proven but it might be that we are related since Gan Hwan arrived in Pekalongan. According to the story of Gan Peng's family there were brothers who seperated, one of them went to Purbalingga/Purwokerto.
You can read the website of the Gan Peng family from Pekalongan: http://www.ganpeng.org
There is another Gan family from Cilacap. Robert Dani from Vienna is one of the descendants. He mentioned that they are related to the family of Gan Koen Keng because Gan Koen Keng's father was a cousin of Robert's greatgrandfather who was also a Gan.
Hopefully, we can find the "missing link" to the other big Gan family.
